Water Damage: Protecting your Home from Flooding - Part 2
8/4/2021 (Permalink)
Your home could have severe water damage problems after an unexpected flood. Water damage can be a stressful thing to deal with; so, before anything happens, there are certain actions you can take to protect your home from any substantial damage.
Inside the home
Protect Valuable Possessions. Important documents and valuable items should be placed in a safe area, above the potential flood elevation or stored in watertight containers.
Use flood-resistant building materials. If you know that your property is at a high level of flood risk, it would be a good idea to use flood-resistant building materials such as lime plaster, cement board, or concrete for internal walls and ceilings.
Be prepared. Stay informed and be alert of any potential risk of imminent flooding that may affect your home. Before an expected flood; shut off electricity, safeguard important documents and move valuable items to a safe area. Keep your family safe and protect your home from any substantial damage.
