Drying Mat Madness

The NCAA college basketball tournament can be an intense few weeks, especially if your alma mater is in it. And it only takes a few seconds for the tide to turn and dreams come to an end. Now if you happen to get up to get a glass of water in the final 2 mins of a sweet sixteen game and your team is suddenly behind, you may make a fast break back to the living room to watch and will them to victory. Just do not forget to turn the faucet off; televised sports have a way of turning 2 minutes into half an hour. The sink overflowed, and water spilled onto the hardwood floors and under the cabinets and the island. It was only a few gallons of water, but the homeowner took action to remove the standing water and call our team to make sure it was dry. It was a good thing that they did because water had already gone through the spacing between the flooring and risked soaking into the subfloor. Our on-call team quickly placed drying mats to remove the water from under the flooring in an attempt to prevent from having to pull and replace the hardwood in the affected area. We were successful; the floor was saved with no demolition required saving the homeowner the cost of replacing it. It doesn’t have to be a tremendous amount of water to cause water damage.
