The Importance of Drying a Floor Properly
A small, undetected water leak from a water heater created a huge and very noticeable problem for a family in Greer, SC. They called the company that installed the water heater, and they fixed the leak, but only dried above the floor in the water heater closet. Months later the flooring in several rooms was cupping, and the flooring was replaced less than a year ago! When SERVPRO of East Greenville County inspected the floor, we found that moisture had caused the subfloor to warp and mold to grow in certain areas of the home. Due to the home being built on a slab, the majority of the new flooring had to be removed in order to dry and remediate the damage to the subfloor properly. The homeowners had to temporarily relocate and spend several thousand dollars to replace the flooring. If the proper drying process was followed when the leak was discovered, the homeowners may have been able to save the majority of their new floor and thousands of dollars. SERVPRO of East Greenville County follows a strict order of operations to secure a dry standard for all of our customers.
